The Welcome Bench

How are you coping with the new normal? If you are like most people you are having some good and some "I've seen better days." Boyd and I are still being cautious because of our age and health issues but we are feeling loved and cared for in spite of masks and social distancing. We worshipped online this morning with friends at Christ Community UMC and neighbors who were out for a walk stopped by our porch and visited at a safe distance. We have several places set up around our yard for visiting and one of them is in the rock garden beside the house. In it is our welcome bench letting people know that we will take time to have a glass of lemonade or iced tea and a bit of conversation and a prayer or two. I hope you have a place like that at your home. The writer of Hebrews 13:1-2 states "Let love of the brethren continue. Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by this some have entertained angels without knowing it."

This is a picture of our “Welcome Bench” and we hope you know you are always welcome to visit. God has a "Welcome Place" too. It is not a bench, it is a place in your heart where God is always ready and waiting for your visit. He wants to hear about what is happening in your life from you. He will give you comfort and peace on those "I've seen better days" and rejoice with you on those good days.

I’m delighted that you continue to read Faith Break and pray that you find hope knowing that God is with us and knows our names. Take care of yourselves. You are loved.

Blessings,

Rev. Carol
